Rain wipes out Day 4 in Umag
2010-07-29 15:45:00

Umag, Croatia (Sports Network) - Rain washed away Thursday's second-round schedule at the clay-court Croatia Open. Second-seeded French Open semifinalist Jurgen Melzer of Austria was scheduled to face Czech Jan Hajek and third-seeded Croatian hero Ivan Ljubicic was slated to meet fellow countryman Ivan Dodig, but those affairs were pushed back to Friday at ITC Stella Maris.

Two other second-round matches were also postponed on Day 4.

On Friday, quarterfinal matches will come for top-seeded Russian Nikolay Davydenko and fourth-seeded Spaniard Juan Carlos Ferrero. Davydenko defeated the former world No. 1 Ferrero in last year's Umag championship match.

The world No. 6 Davydenko will face eighth-seeded Argentine Juan Ignacio Chela, while Ferrero will encounter sixth-seeded Ukrainian Alexandr Dolgopolov.
